To ensure all athletes and participants enjoy a safe and rewarding sport, Rowing Australia is working continually to build an effective and relevant coach accreditation program. This is supplemented with a calendar of coach education events and a large variety of coach education resources. Our task is to ensure we have qualified coaches delivering safe and rewarding programs to all school, club and elite athletes.

Whether you are a new, enthusiastic coach or an experienced coach with an impressive track record, there are a range of education opportunities and resources available to you. Coaches, at levels of the sport, operate in a continually changing environment and are challenged with a large variety of issues and compliance matters. Increasing your knowledge is the best way for all coaches to be effective.

Club Coach – Melbourne University Boat Club (MUBC)

The MUBC Club Coach will be primarily responsible for recruitment and the coaching of MUBC members in the school age, junior, youth, club and pre-elite senior B (U23) categories.  The Club Coach will report to Head Coach in developing and implementing the overall MUBC coaching program, and provide support to other MUBC coaches. 

The Club Coach will provide coaching, leadership and direction to talent identified athletes, junior athletes and aspiring pre elite athletes and will assist with volunteer coaches. Jointly with, and under the direction of the Head Coach, the Club Coach will be responsible for talent identification of future MUBC elite athletes.  As such the Club Coach needs to be innovative and remain at the forefront of rowing coaching techniques to recruit and to help develop rowers to club, junior, youth, varsity and pre-elite levels.

The position reports to MUBC Committee and the Head Coach of MUBC on day-to-day recruitment, talent identification and “club” athlete management.  The Club Coach will manage MUBC’s regatta representation of club athletes and oversee general coaching matters to this section of the club. It is a clear objective that MUBC members race at numerous regattas. 

Suitable candidates should have experience in either or both of club and school rowing programs tertiary qualified in human movement, coaching or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
