Athlete Whereabouts Information
Athletes are required to make themselves available for the drug testing program by providing accurate and up-to-date information on their wherabouts on a regular basis. Should athletes fail to satisfy these requirements they will be ineligible for nomination to and selection in the national teams. This is not a matter of discretion but of obligation under the World Anti-doping code.
Athletes can submit their quarterly Athlete Whereabouts Information in either of three (3) ways:
- Athlete Whereabouts Online System (AWOS)
- Mail the form to ASADA: PO Box 339, Curtin, ACT 2605
- Fax the form to ASADA: 02 6206 0210
The Athlete Whereabouts Online System
The Athlete Whereabouts Online System (AWOS) is a user-friendly web based system and provides the easiest way for athletes to submit their quarterly Athletes Whereabouts Information to ASADA. The AWOS has been developed by ASADA and is available, worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The system assists athletes as it has the ability to duplicate daily whereabouts data, saves locations to use in future quarters, provides a receipt as proof of compliance and sends reminders of information due dates.
A user name and password is required to access the AWOS. The user name along with details on how to obtain a password is sent by ASADA to all athletes included on ASADA's Registered Testing Pool (RTP).

Exemption forms
- FISA Therapeutic Use Exemptions form
- FISA Abbreviated Therapeutic Use Exemptions form
- ASDMAC Therapeutic Use Exemption form
If an athlete needs to use a prohibited substance or a prohibited method for a medical purpose, to avoid an Anti Doping Rule Violation the athlete needs to obtain a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) or an Abbreviated Therapeutic Use Exemption (ATUE).
Do you need a TUE or an ATUE?
The most important thing for athletes to know is that they must call the ASADA Hotline (1800 020 506) to check the status of their medications. They will be told if they require a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) or an Abbreviated Therapeutic Use Exemption (ATUE) and the process they need to follow.
It is important that athletes also remember to check medications each year. The World Anti Doping Agency’s (WADA) Prohibited List changes on the 1st of January each year, so a medication that was permitted last year, may not be next year.
Where do athletes return completed exemption forms?
FISA TUE and ATUE forms need to be returned to
Rowing Australia:
PO Box 245, Belconnen, ACT 2617
Fax: 02 6256 5955
ASDMAC TUE forms need to be returned to
ASDMAC:
PO Box 345, Curtin ACT 2605
Fax: 02 6206 0262
PLEASE NOTE: To avoid an anti-doping violation in regards to TUEs, athletes are required to complete and return both the FISA AND ASDMAC TUE forms to the respective organisations.
